Sally Pointer – Pins, Pockets, Patches and Paint. Getting dressed in the 18th Century

Enjoy the spectacle as Sally dresses a volunteer model, preparing her for an appearance in 18th Society. She will examine the clothing, hair styles and make up of the period, while demonstrating the implements,potions and elaborate rituals undertaken by a lady and her maid to make her entry among the fashionable set of Georgian Society.


Over lunch and later in the afternoon we will have the opportunity to take a look at the newly opened Museum Galleries. Of special interest will be the Mantua, which some of you may have seen last year when we visited the Costume Store, it is now mounted and on display in the Costume Gallery.

Doreen Barnaville – The results of Research on Patchwork textiles in the National History Museum Archives at St Fagans

Doreen Barnaville has interests in textiles,printmaking, archiving and social history which come together in work including wall pieces and artists books. She is a member of the Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers and has contributed work for several exhibitions countrywide.
